Covers are very clean and intact except for light to moderate rubbing (most noticeable on spine), fading to gilt lettering on spine, and slight wear to extremities. A Good copy. This is an informative and instructive book by P. R. Jameson about weather instruments that is intended for general readers. Jameson discusses each subject in a brief section of text. Among the subjects discussed are the aneroid barometer, how to read a barometer, the Stormograph, sea level, how to set barometers, mercurial barometers, effect of temperature on weather, winds, effect of weather changes on altitude scale, conversion of thermometer scales, making glass thermometer tubing, recommendations for reading temperatures on a thermometer, types of thermometers, hygroscopes and hygrometers, hygrometrical tables, relative humidity tables, proper care of hygrometers, cloud formation, types of clouds, speeds of clouds, weather lore (sayings), rain gauges, compasses, cardinal points, magnetism, magnetic poles, and compass needles.
