Damit wird es zunehmend wichtiger, unternehmerische Entscheidungen auf valide Marktdaten stützen zu kà nnen. Bisher basierten Informationen über den Ãko-Markt überwiegend auf Verbraucherbefragungen. Problematisch sind hierbei überhà hte Angaben der Verbraucher über ihr Einkaufsverhalten. Als Là sung dieser Problematik bieten sich Methoden der Tracking-Forschung an, mittels derer repräsentative und verlässliche Daten erhoben werden kà nnen. Im methodischen Teil behandelt der Verfasser für den Ãko-Markt relevante Einsatzmà glichkeiten der Tracking-Forschung und gibt einen umfassenden Ãberblick über diesen bisher im Ãko-Markt wenig berücksichtigten Marktforschungsansatz. Dem empirischen Teil liegen Daten des "GfK-Ãko-Sonderpanels", einem Verbraucherpanel, zugrunde. Besonders interessante Ergebnisse lieÃen sich aufgrund des spezifischen Erhebungsdesigns erzielen. So konnte identifiziert werden, welche Einstellungsunterschiede zwischen Ãko-Käufern und Nicht-Ãko-Käufern bestehen. Innerhalb der Ãko-Käuferschaft wirken sich unterschiedliche Einstellungen auf die Ausgabenhà he für Ãko-Lebensmittel aus. Zudem belegt die Studie, dass die Selbsteinschätzung der Konsumenten über ihre Einkaufshäufigkeiten deutlich vom tatsächlich realisierten Verhalten abweicht.
