Het Botnia-pulpfabrieksproject, meer bekend vanwege de diplomatieke crisis tussen Argentinië en Uruguay vanwege de milieu-impact van de investering, wordt in dit onderzoek geanalyseerd op de gevolgen ervan voor de interne migratie en een vermeend risico van onregelmatige nederzettingen in Fray Bentos.
