Hardcover. probable First edition. 341 pgs. Fair hardcover copy with brown embossed boards. Ex-library with Northampton/Forbes Libary (Mass.) bookplate. Embossing has a couple of chips, but a solid copy. Some browning and foxing to text. Minor separation along spine but appears solid. There is supposedly a map (or two?), but I d…o not see one. LOC lists one before Chapter one. Plates appear to be present, but there is no list. Likely First edition. Per the Center for Maunakea Stewardship "during the period of 1837 - 1842, the author describes a trip to the Sandwich Islands. Reference is made to places that he visited such as Honolulu, Nuuanu Valley, Waikiki, Diamond Head, Manoa Valley, Pearl River, Ewa, and Waialua, on the island of Oahu; Koloa, Mouna Kahili, Valley of Hanapepe, the town of Waimea, the Wailua River and Village, Mauna Waialeale, Anahola, roads to Waioli, the valley of Kalihiwai, as well as the mountains, uplands and lowlands on the island of Kauai; the cities of Wailuku and Lahainaluna, and Mauna Haleakala on the island of Maui; the port of Kailua, Cave of Laniakea, Captain Cook's Monument, Kawaihae, Waimea, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and the city of Hilo on the island of Hawaii." (829).
