This title went through many editions with various publishers, This copy was published by the author Mr. Jefferys. Size 21.5 x 13.5cm approx. Nathaniel Jefferys, c1758-1810, was a London-based jeweller and Member of Parliament for Coventry; he made jewels for many courtiers and members of the royal family. He married the daughter of a wealthy merchant, and lived very comfortably in a house on Pall Mall and also owned a seaside villa near Ramsgate. But after years of wealthy clients failing to pay their bills, he went bankrupt - first in 1797 and again in 1806. Following his second bankruptcy, he published a highly provocative pamphlet attacking the Prince of Wales (future George IV) whom he blamed for his debts. The pamphlets included here are refutations of Jeffreys' controversial work. It detailed transactions, including issues with Mrs. Fitzherbert, causing significant controversy. It was written to expose the Prince's lack of honor in financial dealings, which led to the bankruptcy of Jefferys. It provided a detailed account of the, "various transactions" and debts incurred by the Prince of Wales.

The author suffered financial and reputational ruin after providing a large loan to the Prince of Wales in the 1790s, and found himself shunned and ignored for years after. Despite the scathing indictment of the Prince's character, the author claims to have been motivated solely by a desire to clear his own name and highlight a miscarriage of justice. This book provides unique insight into the private lives of the British royal family and the nature of the British justice system during the Regency era. The author also explores the theme of loyalty and betrayal throughout the narrative, and what happens when blind trust is placed in figures of authority and power. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
