Umfassendes Werk des dänischen Juristen und Historikers Jens Kragh Höst (1772 - 1844) über den Arzt und Refomer des dänischen Königreiches, Johann Friedrich Struensee (1737 - 1772). Struensee, ursprünglich Armenarzt im - damals dänischen - Altona avancierte 1769 zum Leibarzt des dänischen Königs Christian VII., nachdem er diesen zuvor auf einer Reise begleitet hatte. Neben dem geistig erkranken König stieg der einflußreiche Struensee rasch zum mächtigsten Mann im Königreich auf und nutzte seine Sonderstellung, um den dänischen Staat durch zahlreiche Reformmaßnahmen im Sinne der Aufklärung zu modernisieren. Mächtige Feinde, die sich infolge der Wandlungen am Hofe aus ihren ehemals Einflußreichen Positionen verdrängt sahen, verwickelten Struensee 1771 in eine Intrige, aus der ihn auch der schwache König nicht befreien konnte und die schließlich mit Struensees Hinrichtung endete. Jens Kragh Höst war von 1801 an als Assessor am dänischen Hof- und Staatsgericht. Von 1808 an widmete er sich ganz seinen literarischen Ambitionen, unter anderem war er Mitbegründer der Skandinavischen Literaturgesellschaft. Ein Blatt etwas ungleichmäßig beschnitten. Sonst tadelloses Exemplar dieser sehr zeitnahen, umfangreichen Darstellung zur Struensee-Ära; Seiten sauber und fleckenfrei sowie ohne Bräunung. Sehr selten.
