Soft Cover/Sheet Music. Condizione: Very Good. 4-page Vintage SHEET MUSIC. Strong, clean copy with a pre-drilled hole to upper front of softcover, sticker removal shadow & music shop stamp. "Bill" is a song from Act II of Kern and Hammerstein's classic 1927 musical Show Boat, sung by Julie. First published 1927; this is the music arrangement ogf 1974. Lyrics based on those written by Kern and P.G. Wodehouse for their 1917 musical Oh, Lady! Lady!! for Vivienne Segal --- withdrawn but found suited for Kern and Hammerstein's Show Boat, with words revised by Hammerstein. Emotional song, Julie, of mixed blood, has been abandoned by her white husband --- despondent, Julie has taken to drink --- a woman's confession of deep love for a less-than-perfect man named Bill. "Bill" became one of Helen Morgan's signature songs, both on and off stage; she sang "Bill" in both the prologue to the 1929 part-talkie film version of Show Boat as well as in the classic 1936 film version.
