Justin Cronin (b. 1962) has been awarded the PEN/Heminway Award for Debut Novel, the Stephen Crane Prize, and a Whiting Award. "The Passage", the first book of this trilogy, debuted on the New York Times hardcover fiction best-seller list at number three, and remained for seven weeks on the list. The setting for "The Passage" is a world which is over-run with vampire-like zombies who were infected with an injection intended to provide immunity from a virus "carried by an unnamed species of bat in South America" (n.b., info and quote from Wiki). Each volume of this set of the signed/limited edition, issued by Cemetery Dance, is signed by Cronin on the limitation page ("The Twelve" additionally signed by him on the title page), and all three are no. 758 of 948 copies. ___DESCRIPTION: All three volumes bound in full cloth (of different colours) over boards with gilt lettering on the front boards and spines, black laid paper endpapers, all three title pages with a small black-and-white illustration, all three volumes with black-and-white illustrations throughout the text, "The Passage" and "The Twelve" with ribbon markers; bindings quarto size (10 1/4" by approx. 7 1/2"), pagination: "The Passage", [1-11] 12-695 with the final approx. thirty pages being "The Story Behind the Passage" with many black-and-white reproductions of photographs Cronin took while doing his research; "The Twelve", [1-11] 12-520 [3]; "The City of Mirrors", [1-11] 12-652 [3]; limited edition, each volume no. 758 of 948 copies. The dust jackets all with different wrap-around cover art, prices printed at the top of the left flap, summaries on the front flaps and short author bio on the right flaps. ___CONDITION: Volumes uniformly fine, the boards clean, straight corners without rubbing, strong, square text blocks with solid hinges, the interiors clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; all three clean, crisp, and as new. The unclipped jackets also uniformly fine, clean and utterly without wear.
