This was produced toward the end of the Korean Police Action (aka the Korean War) and presents an important view into the state of practice and state of training for armored units. THe 1st Armored Division was born at Fort Knox, Kentucky on July 15, 1940. Its first commander was Major General Bruce Magruder. The unit was part of the landing force that arrived at Les Andalouses in North Africa in 1942. It was then deployed in the Italian campaign. It joined the battle of Anzio on the third day. It was action on the Arno and was part of the forces occupying Germany after the was. In 1946 the Division was deactivated. It was officially reactivated at Fort Hood on March 7, 1951 under Brigadier Genral Bruce Clarke. It played an important role in Exercise Longhorn and then supported operations in Korea. Fair. Cover has some wear and soiling. Some crayon markings. Small tears to several pages. Presumed first edition/first printing for this unit.

Earth First! quickly came to national attention with their "cracking" of Glen Canyon Dam activist stunt, which was performed and filmed in the spring of 1981. Edward Abbey is considered to be the "literary father" of the group. "Earth First! is the beginning of the new, bold environmental movement. And 'Earth First! The Radical Environmental Journal' is its voice" (Dave Foreman, Editor).
