PRINT 1: "Messenger" by Kurt Vonnegut, hand-printed in five colors on Coventry cotton paper; 12 x 16.75 inches with a tissue guard; SIGNED BY VONNEGUT in pencil and numbered 30/50; with the printer's embossed chop mark. PRINT 2: "Red Shark" by Ralph Steadman, hand-printed in two colors on Coventry cotton paper; 12 x 16.75 inches with a tissue guard; SIGNED BY STEADMAN in pencil and numbered 30/50; with the printer's embossed chop mark. The image is of Hunter S. Thompson from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. CATALOGUE: The catalogue was published in conjunction with an exhibition at the University of Kentucky Art Museum, Lexington, in 1999, and includes original essays by Kurt Vonnegut and Ralph Steadman. The copies included with the portfolio have been SIGNED BY VONNEGUT, STEADMAN, JOE PETRO III (the printmaker, additionally embossed with his chop mark) and RACHAEL SADINSKY (the curator of the University of Kentucky Art Museum.) It has been numbered as well, 30/50. Preface by the curator; exhibition checklist. Staple-bound, stiff wraps; 12 pages; 4 color and 2 b&w illustrations; 6 x 10.5 inches. There is also a printed vellum title page/colophon sheet that is hand-numbered and a small card with the printer's chop that is also numbered. PORTFOLIO: All the items are housed in a black-cloth-bound, ribbon-tied portfolio with embossed silver text to the front, pocket to the inside front cover, and flaps to the inside back; 13 x 17.5 inches. …
