Contemporary plain wrappers, 8vo, 23 cm, [6], 518 pp. First edition of an early and scarce erotic glossary in Latin by Pierre-Emmanuel Pierrugues (1760-1827). RareBookHub records only one copy at auction since 1902. An unauthorised reprint intended to appear as a different work was published in 1833 in Stuttgart under the title "Thesaurus eroticus linguae latinae." purportedly by a 'Carl Rambach'. Quérard states that the work "donne l'explication des mots techniques de la jurisprudence et de la médecine, qui tiennent aux moeurs, à la physiologie et aux lois du temps, de ces expressions figurées en usage dans la classe élevée des Romains, enfin de ce langage populaire qui n'est devenu licencieux que dans les livres modernes. Rien n'a été négligé pour rendre ce Glossaire digne d'occuper un rang distingué parmi les meilleurs ouvrages classiques". (Quérard, La France littéraire, 1835, VII, p. 157).
