De Beka war der bedeutendste Geschichtsschreiber Utrechts im 14. Jahrhundert. Seine Darstellung reicht bis zum Jahr 1346, die Fortsetzung des Suffridus Petri bis 1393. Der 'Historia episcoporum Ultraiectensium' des Willem Heda (gest. 1525) kommt heute Quellenwert zu durch die Anführung sehr alter Urkunden, die seither verloren gegangen sind (ADB XI, 219). Hortensius (gest. 1574) schildert die nachfolgenden Wirren, in deren Verlauf Utrecht zwar zum Erzbistum erhoben wurde, aber zugleich seinen Charakter als weltliche Herrschaft verlor. - Gebräunt u. stockfleckig. Full parchment spitsel binding with yap edges, solid construction, clean textpages, stained parchment, handwritten title on spine, with the original headbands intact. Wonderful edition of the medieval chronicle of the northern Netherlands by Johannes de Beka (14th cy) with appendix by Suffridus Petri (1527-1597), and the history of the bishops of Utrecht by Wilhelmus Heda (ca. 1460-1525).
