Corners bumped, rubbed at head and foot of spine, label peeled off. Internally, endpapers and binding reinforced, upper corner of textblock bumped, nicked on edges of 5 or 6 pp, but o/w tight, clean, crisp and probably never read. Collection of essays which originally appeared in "The Musical Standard", in which the author, a noted German scholar of his day, presents an erudite, at times mystical, analysis of the 9 symphonies, full of classical references, flights of fancy, allusions to nature, history, etc. Rare.
