This relates to Joseoh Martin Kronheim (1810 - 1896) who was a well known innovative lithographer. In addition there are 17 black and white full page plates, also with tissue guards which mainly show plants and animals. In addition there are 5 full page colour maps: All the maps and illustrations are in place and in very pleasing condition. There are 2 title pages, with one decorative. NOTES AND CROSS REFERENCES: The cross references are in two margins, one on each side of every page and the detailed notes on the text are at the base of each page. THE BRASS DECORATION: The original brass trim and two clasps on the front and rear boards are securely attached. The clasps close firmly. A bookbinder once advised me not to close the clasps on really heavy books as it puts stress over time on the binding. However, although the brass surround on this bible is securely in place' the top clasp is slightly askew and would benefit, ideally, from a bookbinder's expert attention. CONDITION: The interior of this bible is especially good for its age, being bright and clean with no brown spotting and no inscriptions through the text. The pages are gilt edged. The original black morocco leather cover with tooled decoration and a banded spine is in very good condition with only a little rubbing at top and base of the spine. This bible has been kept carefully and any imperfections are testament to its long life and define its individual passage through time. WEIGHT: 5.686 kg unpackaged. Prompt, well packaged despatch. Sent with 'Royal Mail Tracked 48' within UK. Reasonable international rates. J M Kronheim (lithographer) (illustratore).
