These limestones were previously grouped under the generic title of Archean and considered to be part of the Azoic or Archean age, but this study presents evidence that they are of a more recent origin, and are associated with crystalline limestones, granites, diabases and scapolite rocks. The book concludes with observations on the iron mines of the state, including a list of all of the openings and mines of magnetic iron ore which have produced ore to a commercial extent, and references to all of the published notes thereon in the Geology of New Jersey and in the annual reports issued since that time.
