Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Full Title: 'The Christian Experience of a Roman Catholic, converted by the religion of the Holy Bible.' This could be a first edition. I saw only two other copies for sale and they were both also published in 1853. It was copyrighted in 1852. That is the only date on the copyright page. As you can see from the photos, the covers of the book are quite clean. There is one white spot on the rear cover (see third photo). There is a small loss off the top edge of the spine (see second photo. Other than that there is very little wear on the covers, a small spot of rub-through above the top corner of the front cover and a small spot at the top corner of the rear cover. The other two corners and the six edges are in excellent condition. The front and rear covers have a blind stamped design. Same for the spine which is also in full gilt, including the lettering. The gilt is quite bright and not worn at all. The spine is just very slightly slanted forward. This book is solidly bound. There is a small space between the tissue guarded frontispiece and the facing title page. It runs from the top edge to about two thirds of the way down the gutter. There is a little bit of give when you pull at the front cover from the side. There is also a little space at the gutter between the first and second rear end papers. It begins off the bottom edge and goes about one third of the way up the gutter. Here there really isn't any give. Significantly, all the pages in the book are nicely tight and the book has a very solid feel to it, no fragility at all. The pages are nicely supple, not brittle. The inside covers and end papers are a orange-beige hue. There are penciled names at the top edge of both the front and rear end paper. There is no other writing to be found anywhere in the book. Nor are there any markings or attachments. The pages are in very good condition. They are fairly bright. There is very little by way of creasing, the last few pages have a light bottom corner crease. There is some light foxing on the blank rear of the frontispiece and around the margins of the frontispiece ( a portrait of the author). Also on the tissue guard which has a small tear as well. This book is otherwise not afflicted with foxing. I saw only a very small number of tiny spots over the entirety of the book. So the pages are quite clean. There is a small stain on the middle page edge (visible in the last photo). I found a 1/2 inch thin tear off the bottom edge of one page, far from the print. I didn't see any other tears. I didn't see any loss. The introduction runs from page 11 through 18. Beside the frontispiece, there are six full-page illustrations.

Hardcover. Condizione: Poor. 159. A small brown cloth hardcover book in poor condition. Covers stained and cloth wrinkled and peeling in places, likely a result of old water damage. Spotty stains to endpapers and title page; mild foxing. Binding a bit rigid. Text clean; a readable vintage copy.
