Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good wear. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Cover has some light edge and corner; During World War II, thousands of young Latter-day Saints became soldiers to fight for their countries. When the Saints at War project started in the year 2000, Directors Robert Freeman and Dennis Wright began their…research by focusing on understanding the experiences these Latter-day Saints had during the war. It soon became evident, however, that the story of the war was more involved than just retelling the American experience. For Latter-day Saints, the story of World War II also involved the powerful experiences endured by Church members from Germany. While modest in comparison to the number of accounts received from American soldier-saints, the story of the German Latter-day Saints was perhaps even more compelling. This book shares the impact of war on German Saints. While most of the stories are firsthand accounts from Latter-day Saints who fought for German forces, this book also provides glimpses into the trials endured by civilian Latter-day Saints, who bore such heavy burdens both during and after the war. The war was horrible for both sides. The German LDS soldiers had to make choices based on their knowledge and acceptance of the gospel. It is apparent that these soldiers were just as inclined to live the Word of Wisdom, pray for protection, and uphold moral standards, as were their American Latter-day Saint brethren. They also sought for and received direction from Heavenly Father in moments of danger just as Latter-day Saints from America and other nations did. Drawing from several accounts of German Saints, this book chronicles the effects of war on German Saints, and how through faith and perseverance, they survived this terrible time. ; 7.75" x 10.25"; 288 pages.
