Internally very good; owner's name neatly to flyleaves; text in double columns; text block bindings sound but hinges a little tender; some foxing to end papers but hardly any elsewhere In detail: Volume I, A-J, 1-1005pp;Pub 1859; Vol II, K-S, 1006-2326pp;Pub 1870; Vol III, TY-Z,2327-3140pp; Pub 1871. The Supplements were published by J B Lippincott Company of Philadelphia in 1891; they are similar to the original volumes in appearance but have a 'morocco' leather rather than a diced texture and a blind stamped floral border line to the boards without spandrels Supplement Vol I AAR-GYL; x-1-734pp; Vol II HAA-ZWI; 735-1562pp. A very sound set of this massive work.
