" Three tales of Caribbean adventure and piracy, written by the 19th century New Hampshire-born clergyman and prolific author John Lauris Blake (1788-1857). Blake graduated from Brown University before becoming a Methodist minister. The Preface mentions an 1829 trip to Cuba influencing these stories. Also includes : "The Brazilian" and "The Montero of Cuba." 12 decorative full-page engraved plates (lacking one on p. 294) and other smaller embellishments to text. Condition Fair, including (mostly exterior) water damage, general wear, cracked front joint and occasional staining. However, this remains an enjoyable and picturesque book, if a bit delicate. Not in BAL. (The E in "Evenings in Boston" is not present on title page.) In Sabin. Rare to market. OCLC 950903242. Book.
