Catalogue from the exhibition of 66 works in 1998, including books, constructions, colored pulp drawings, soot and spit drawings. With a foreword by Ollman and the catalogue essay by Butler. Includes the exhibition checklist, a chronology, and bibliography. James Castle was an American folk artist from Idaho. He was born deaf and never learned to speak, sign, read, or write, and his art was self-taught, much of it stemming from his extreme physical and psychological isolation.
