Stamped and decorated brown cloth boards are a bit rubbbed, bumped and grimed. Gilt decoration to cover and spine remains bright and attractive. Interior is clean, unmarked, and unfoxed. Binding is secure, but cracked at hinges and p272. Overall a pretty nice copy. ".a new and interesting journey which the reader may make with us - a novel excursion among peope and through countries, of whose buildings he knows nothing, or, which having once seen, he may be glad to visit a second time." Bound in brown cloth over beveled boards, moderate rubbing to, slight scuffing of tips and edges, still sharp black lettering to front cover and spine, and with a gorgeous gilt illustration to front cover (of a man overlooking a man sketching a landscape), reproduced at title page. Cracking to front and rear pastedowns; red-stained all-round. 214 black-and-white engraved illustrations mostly of windmills and architecture, dikes and furniture. Preface by author from 1875, and then a travelogue extending to Rotterdam, The Hague, Leyden, Haarlem, Amsterdam, then on to Germany and Denmark.
