Uniformly bound in a half calf binding this set is a interesting account of France in the fifteenth century. Complete in two volumes. The chronicles of Enguerrand de Monstrelet, a French born writer presumably from a noble family of the 15th century. In this set Monstrelet gives an insight into military action in France in the 15th century. In particular this work gives a account of the civil war between the houses of Orleans and Burgundy, two royal families of the 15th century, as well as the English occupation of Paris and Normandy. With the previous owners ink inscription to the front endpaper of each volume that reads 'P. Warren, July 1840'. Translated into English by Thomas Johnes, a noted Member of Parliament, author and translator. In the uniform half calf binding, with cloth covered boards. Externally generally smart, with shelfwear to the extremities, and light patches of rubbing the spines and to the front and rear joints. Internally generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good. book.
