Gold and red dust jacket with "Gift Edition" printed below spine center; front panel decorated with b/w portrait photo of the Johnsons; rear panel has b/w photo of airplane amongst clouds. Dj has rubbing to panels; shallow chips, nicks, short tears, and some creasing/bumping at edges; front flap retains publisher's printed price at its bottom corner; dj presented in an older Gaylord mylar protector. Brown and tan zebra stripe patterned cloth. Reddish-brown top edge; deckle fore-edge. B/w pictorial endpapers; past bookseller's pencil note at top of front free endpaper. Past owner's Christmas 1940 gift inscription on page 3. Author's ink signature "Osa Johnson" boldly written on page 2. Interior leaves otherwise remains bright and clean. Binding is firm (this pre-war printing utilizes a heavier paper stock causing the combined thickness of text block and boards being approximately 4.25cm whereas wartime printings were much thinner). A very good+ copy in a very good- dust jacket.
