Very good copy, spine label chipped with loss of a few letters, corners of a few pages turned down, stain in margin of one page brushing the text. Illustrated with several full-page scenes of New York and stock vignettes of no particular relevance t…o the book. Frontispiece shows a busy street scene; there are also illustrations of a harbor scene and a steam railroad. The illustration of the railroad is used twice, once in a chapter on the Bowery, and again at a point in the book when the characters ride on it. The first occurrence seems to be an error or a make-do. Unusually nicely preserved children's book in its original binding.
