Full brown tree calf leather with typical wood pattern on front and back, and with gilt borders on spine creating 5 compartments, one of them being black leather with gilt titling. Despite age the book is tight and square but there are three flaws: Front cover is in Good to Very Good condition but is… detached from the book. The rest of the binding it tight. Also, there is medium foxing throughout the book, including on the 23 b/w engraved plates, which are all present. Finally there is a piece missing from both the top and bottom of the spine. Two prior owners signatures are on the FFE (attached to the cover) and the flyleaf, dated 1869. 12mo., 220pp. plus 8pp. catalogue in rear of other recently published School Books. "With corrections, improvements, and considerable additions in the body of the work; appropriate questions, and a glossary.".
