Nicht in erster Linie die tatsächliche wirtschaftliche und soziale Benachteiligung führt zu Rassismus, Nationalismus und Intoleranz etc., sondern die Angst vor eben dieser bei den noch gut Situierten. Die Untersuchung macht deutlich, dass eine weitere Ursache für die Entstehung von Rechtsextremismus zu berücksichtigen ist: Die Studie über den Rems-Murr-Kreis - eine Region mit geringer Arbeitslosigkeit und niedrigem MigrantInnenanteil - zeigt, dass das Problem der rechtsextremen Gruppen nicht isoliert von den politischen Milieus der Mehrheitskultur betrachtet werden kann. Diese nämlich nimmt den Rechtsextremismus oftmals stillschweigend hin.
