Garson Kanin's A Name for Herself was the working title for It Should Happen to You, which is the working title on this script. starred Jack Lemmon and Judy Holliday. Bradbound in wrappers. Some tears to covers, and a tiny bit of chipping, very good. It Should Happen to You is a 1954 American romantic comedy film starring Judy Holliday, Peter Lawford and Jack Lemmon; it was Lemmon's first major film appearance. The film was directed by George Cukor. ÒLemmon had a contentious meeting with studio boss Harry Cohn, who feared that critics might use jokes about the name "Lemmon" in headlines panning the film. He wanted Lemmon to change his name to "Lennon". Lemmon countered that if he did that, people might confuse his name with "Lenin" and associate his name with communismÑa legitimate concern in the 1950s.Ó.…

The number "18809-1-7" is written in pencil on the verso. 2) Sydney Chaplin is portrayed from the chest up, wearing an open collar white shirt as he sits at what appears to be a card table. The number "18809-1-11" is penciled on the verso. 3) Adolph Green, the Musical's co-author and co-lyricist, is portrayed in a dark suit jacket over white shirt and tie, seated at a desk with a glass in the foreground. Judy Holliday (1921-1965) won an academy award for her role in the film version of "Born Yesterday". Accused of being associated with communism, she was called to testify before the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee in 1952. With the help of her mentor Jean Dalrymple, Judy came through unscathed and found sanctuary with the New York theater community. She co-starred with romantic lead Sydney Chaplin in the Broadway production of "Bells Are Ringing" from 1956 to 1959, recreating the role for the movie version opposite Dean Martin in 1960. The second son of Charlie Chaplin and Lita Grey, Sydney Chaplin (1926-2009) played the leading role opposite leading lady Judy Holliday in "Bells Are Ringing". He won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his 1957 Broadway performance in that musical. Adolph Green (1914-2002) co-wrote the screenplay & lyrics with Betty Comdon for the musical. [Provenance]: From the estate of Jean Dalrymple (1902-1998), the dynamic producer and director of theater and light-opera at Manhattan's City Center. Dalrymple began her career in Vaudeville, appearing with James Cagney and Carey Grant in the early 1930s. She was a founding member of the American Theatre Wing, the theatre service organization. She worked over the years as a personal manager for the likes of Leopold Stokowski, Mary Martin, Jos Iturbi, Andre Kostalanetz, Nathan Milstein, and Lily Pons. She began her work at City Center with its founding in 1943, serving as a board member and publicist. Her productions there from the 1940s through the 1960s were a revitalizing influence on the whole New York theatre scene. In 1951, Jean Dalrymple married Major-General Philip deWitt Ginder, commander of the Thunderbirds in Korea. She was a friend to Presidents and entertainment personalities throughout the world.…
