Lord Rosebery gives a detailed explanation to the Edinburgh School Children (February 22nd, 1908) on the construction of the flag. Note tipped to the front cover explaining how Thomas Nelson, of Edinburgh, have kindly allowed this Union Jack to be purchased specially for the Members of Junior Branch of the Imperial Maritime League for presentation on Empire Day, 24th May 1909. This is a half-scale reproduction of the original parchment document. Upon his father's death in 1936, Edward became the second monarch of the House of Windsor. The new king showed impatience with court protocol, and caused concern among politicians by his apparent disregard for established constitutional conventions. Only months into his reign, a constitutional crisis was caused by his proposal to marry Wallis Simpson, an American who had divorced her first husband and was seeking a divorce from her second. After his abdication, Edward was created Duke of Windsor. He married Simpson in France on 3 June 1937, after her second divorce became final. Extremely rare 45½'' x 16¼'' original one sheet lobby or outside advertisement poster for Paul Dessau's opera Puntila, 1956-1959 (Peter Palitzsch and Manfred Wekwerth after Brecht play), with the world premiere on November 15, 1966 at the Staatsoper, Berlin. Small piece of paper missing to the top edge, corners have been repaired to the reverse and in Very Good condition. Sent rolled in a tube with end caps.
