Schöner Brief über einen von einem namentlich nicht genannten Schüler Edmund von Hellmers geschaffenen Brunnen: "Bei den Juriarbeiten anläßlich der Preisverteilung an der Akademie hat die Arbeit eines Schülers Prof. Hellmers seiner eigenartigen Composition wegen das besondere Interesse der Komission erregt, weshalb ich mir erlaube, Ihre Aufmerksamkeit auf jenes Werk zu lenken, von dem ich eine kleine aus der Erinnerung gezeichnete Skizze beischließe. Das Originelle an der Sache sind die am Grund des Bassins dahinschwimmenden Nixen und Undinen welche teilweise aus dem Wasser auftauchen. Der Effekt dieser unter Wasser grünlich schimmernden von Algen überzogenen Fabelgeschöpfe die durch bewegtes Wasser verlebendigt werden müßte ein ganz hervorragender sein [.]" (Br. v. 10. VII. 1911). - Gedachter Aufstellungsort war, wie aus dem Brief hervorgeht, der [Maria-]Josefa-Park. Nach dem Krieg zur Erinnerung an die Hilfssendungen aus der Schweiz in Schweizergarten unbenannt, wurde die ursprüngliche Ausstattung des 1905/06 angelegten Parks größtenteils zerstört. - Jungwirth studierte an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien bei Siegmund L'Allemand, August Eisenmenger und Kasimir Pochwalski. Eine Studienreise führte ihn 1900 nach Italien und im Jahr darauf als Begleiter von Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand nach Dalmatien. Nach zweijährigem Aufenthalt in der Künstlerkolonie Berg bei Böheimkirchen (Niederösterreich) kehrte er 1906 nach Wien zurück, wo er 1910 Professor an der Akademie der bildenden Künste wurde. Jungwirth portraitierte Mitglieder des Hofs und schuf mehrfach ausgezeichnete Historien- und Genrebilder in impressionistischem Stil. Vgl. Thieme/B.
