Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Sesame (Sesamum indicum L., 2n = 26) is a very ancient oilseed crop grown next to groundnut and mustard in India. It belongs to the order Tubiflorae, family Pedaliaceae. It is basically considered a crop of tropical and sub-tropical regions but, it has also spread to the temperate parts of the world. Africa has been considered to be the primary centre of origin of sesame and it spread early through West Asia to India, China and Japan which themselves became secondary distribution centres. Sesame is called as the 'Queen of Oilseeds' because of its excellent qualities of the seed, oil and meal. Generally, the oil content in sesame ranges from 34 to 63%.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The present investigation entitled ' Genetic architecture of seed yield and its component characters in F1 and F2 generations of castor (Ricinus communic L.) ' was undertaken with a view to know the nature and magnitude of heterosis, to study the general and specific combining ability effects of parents and crosses, respectively and to understand the nature and magnitude of gene action involved in the inheritance of seed yield and its component traits. A total of 45 crosses were effected by crossing 10 parents in a diallel mating fashion during kharif 2014-15. The 45 F1s were sown during kharif 2015-16 to obtain self progenies (F2s). The final experimental material comprised of 101 entries consisting of 10 parents, 45 hybrids, 45 F2s and a check (GCH 7), which was evaluated in a Randomized Block Design with three replications at the Main Oilseeds Research Station, JAU, Junagadh during kharif 2016-17. The findings of present research will become a path way for plant breeders and scholars for further research work in castor crop.
