' was undertaken with a view to know the nature and magnitude of heterosis, to study the general and specific combining ability effects of parents and crosses, respectively and to understand the nature and magnitude of gene action involved in the inheritance of seed yield and its component traits. A total of 45 crosses were effected by crossing 10 parents in a diallel mating fashion during kharif 2014-15. The 45 F1s were sown during kharif 2015-16 to obtain self progenies (F2s). The final experimental material comprised of 101 entries consisting of 10 parents, 45 hybrids, 45 F2s and a check (GCH 7), which was evaluated in a Randomized Block Design with three replications at the Main Oilseeds Research Station, JAU, Junagadh during kharif 2016-17. The findings of present research will become a path way for plant breeders and scholars for further research work in castor crop.…
