Fotografia
Vintage borderless reference photograph of Peter Bogdanovich directing actor Ryan O'Neal between takes on the set of the 1971 film. Manuscript ink and pencil annotations to the verso. From the archive of film historian and author Joel Finler. Howard Bannister (O'Neal) is in San Francisco at a musicologist convention, competing for a research grant. He meets a screwy but intellectual student, Judy Maxwell (Barbra Streisand), and the two strike a connection, and for Judy it's love at first sight. Add to the plot a case of mistaken and stolen goods, and what remains is a wildly successful screwball sendup, the highest grossing film ever directed by Peter Bogdanovich. Its success lay largely in a rather esteemed crew of screenwriters, which included Buck Henry and Robert Benton. Set and shot on location in San Francisco. 10 x 8 inches. About Near Fine.
