This study was conducted in the Somali Region, Ethiopia, especially in the Ber-ano district of the Shabele Zone. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were applied among others being frequency distribution, tabulations, inferential statistics such as Chi-square, Binary Logistic Regressions, focus group discussion, key informant interview, and observation, among others. Findings showed huge improvements to settler's access to the various social services in their area of destination (Resettlement area) such as water, health, education, and plots of land received per household. 64 pp. Englisch.

Het programma werd uitgevoerd in een poging om voedselzekerheid te garanderen en plattela…ndsontwikkeling te bewerkstelligen (Nationale Coalitie voor Voedselzekerheid,2003). Het doel van het hervestigingsprogramma is om het herstel van de hulpbronnen in Centraal Ethiopië te vergemakkelijken en arme boeren een beter levensonderhoud te bieden. Deze studie werd uitgevoerd in de Somalische regio, Ethiopië, met name in het Ber-ano district van de Shabele Zone. Kwantitatieve en kwalitatieve onderzoeksmethoden werden onder andere toegepast: frequentieverdeling, tabulaties, inferentiële statistieken zoals Chi-kwadraat, Binary Logistic Regressions, focusgroepdiscussie, sleutelinformanteninterview en observatie. Uit de bevindingen bleek dat de toegang van kolonisten tot de verschillende sociale voorzieningen in hun gebied van bestemming (hervestigingsgebied), zoals water, gezondheid, onderwijs en percelen land die per huishouden worden ontvangen, enorm is verbeterd.
