Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Traction Power Electronic Converters: Design, Control, Applications, and Emerging Technologies is a comprehensive engineering reference covering the design, analysis, control, implementation, and optimization of modern traction power electronic converters used in electric vehicles, railway systems, industrial drives, and emerging electrified transportation. The book follows a systematic engineering approach, guiding readers through every stage of converter development-from defining system requirements and selecting converter topologies to semiconductor devices, digital control, thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), reliability engineering, prototype development, testing, and industrial validation. Engineering theory is combined with practical design methods, allowing readers to understand both the scientific principles and real-world challenges involved in developing high-performance traction converters.Beginning with the fundamentals of electric traction systems and power conversion, the text explains converter topologies, silicon and wide-bandgap semiconductor devices, gate driver circuits, DC-link capacitors, laminated busbars, protection circuits, cooling systems, and auxiliary power supplies. It also introduces Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), Space Vector PWM (SVPWM), Field-Oriented Control (FOC), vector transformations, and digital motor control techniques used in modern electric mobility.Dedicated chapters cover thermal engineering and reliability, including power loss calculations, heat transfer, heat sink optimization, air and liquid cooling, thermal modeling, junction temperature estimation, accelerated life testing, fault diagnosis, functional safety, condition monitoring, and predictive maintenance. The interaction between electrical, mechanical, thermal, and software engineering is emphasized throughout the design process.Simulation and virtual prototyping are integrated throughout the book using MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM, finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL). Practical examples demonstrate converter modeling, optimization, laboratory testing, commissioning, design verification, and compliance with international engineering standards. The final chapters explore future developments including silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technologies, intelligent software-defined converters, artificial intelligence, digital twins, predictive health monitoring, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) systems, 800 V architectures, advanced cooling technologies, and sustainable engineering practices.Richly illustrated with hundreds of professional figures, engineering diagrams, flowcharts, thermal models, control architectures, reliability frameworks, and practical design examples, this book serves as both a graduate-level textbook and a practical engineering handbook.Key Features- Complete coverage of traction power electronic converter design and operation.- Modern converter topologies, semiconductor devices, and switching technologies.- Advanced control techniques including FOC, SPWM, and SVPWM.- Thermal management, cooling systems, EMC, and reliability engineering.- Simulation using MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, PLECS, CFD, FEA, and HIL.- Applications in electric vehicles, railway traction, Formula Student, and industrial drives.- Future technologies including SiC, GaN, AI-assisted control, digital twins, predictive maintenance, and V2G.- Hundreds of engineering illustrations and practical design workflows.Designed for senior undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, practicing engineers, and industry professionals, this book provides the knowledge and practical engineering perspective required to develop effici Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Power electronics plays a vital role in the control of PMSM which has emerged as favourite for small electric formula race car. With the limited space in these cars, need for compact power electronic solutions is key, hence the motivation to design and develop a compact power electronic box for Chalmers Formula Student electric car. This work is based on the 2-wheel drive formula car with a DC source of 400 volts. Using the benching test results performed by AROS on the PMSM, data and results collected from the 2014 formula student competition rules and the endurance speed pro le of the 2013 CFS car, The peak phase voltage and current drawn by PMSM at di erent operating points are obtained. The dimensioning of the switches is dependent on the peak phase current and voltage values and the source voltage. Power losses of the selected power modules are calculated using data-sheet parameters of IGBTs and MOSFETs. Evaluation of the power losses, weight, size and cost of the power modules is done using stacked bus bars and a heat sink is designed for the power module selected as the most suitable. Also capacitors, IGBT/MOSFET drivers, bus bars, current and voltage sensors are selected. 92 pp. Englisch.…

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Energy Efficiency Engineering for Commercial Buildings: Practical Energy Audits, Building Optimization, and Smart Energy Management is a comprehensive engineering reference that combines theory, practical applications, and real-world experience to improve the energy performance of commercial buildings. Designed for engineers, energy managers, consultants, facility managers, architects, researchers, and graduate students, this book provides a systematic approach to reducing energy consumption, lowering operating costs, and enhancing building sustainability. The book guides readers through the complete energy audit process, from planning and site inspections to data collection, engineering calculations, reporting, and implementation of energy conservation measures. It covers building energy fundamentals, performance indicators, utility analysis, benchmarking, and internationally recognized energy management practices.Detailed chapters examine lighting systems, HVAC equipment, motors, pumps, fans, transformers, electrical distribution systems, building envelopes, power quality, renewable energy integration, battery energy storage, and demand-side management. Practical engineering methods demonstrate how to identify inefficiencies, optimize equipment performance, improve reliability, and maximize energy savings while maintaining occupant comfort.Modern smart-building technologies are explored through Building Management Systems (BMS), Internet of Things (IoT), smart metering, artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, digital twins, cloud-based monitoring, and data analytics. These technologies enable intelligent control, continuous monitoring, and data-driven decision-making for high-performance commercial buildings. The book also presents practical financial evaluation techniques, including life-cycle cost analysis, payback period, net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), benefit-cost ratio, and sensitivity analysis, allowing readers to evaluate projects from both technical and economic perspectives. Additional chapters cover commissioning, retro-commissioning, measurement and verification (M&V), sustainability strategies, and continuous energy performance improvement.Filled with engineering formulas, worked examples, practical calculations, design procedures, checklists, and real-world case studies, this book bridges the gap between academic knowledge and professional engineering practice. It serves as both a university textbook and a practical reference for professionals involved in the design, operation, maintenance, auditing, and optimization of commercial buildings.Whether designing new facilities or upgrading existing ones, Energy Efficiency Engineering for Commercial Buildings provides the technical knowledge, analytical tools, and engineering methodologies needed to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, integrate renewable energy technologies, and support the transition toward smarter, more sustainable commercial buildings. It is an essential resource for anyone committed to creating high-performance, energy-efficient buildings for the future. A practical guide to energy audits, building optimization, and smart energy management for commercial buildings, combining engineering principles with real-world applications.
