In 1992, she captured the Kunsthistorisches Institut der Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in ten analogue black-and-white pictures that have not been on public display. In 2020, Höfer returned to the institute to take more pictures using a digital camera.The two series now make their public début in the institute's halls and are gathered in this book. Condizione: Sehr gut. 2019. 228 S. Giovanni Casanova war als Professor und Direktor der Kunstakademie in Dresden ein bekannter Künstler. Daß der Name Casanova einmal weltberühmt sein würde, konnte er nicht ahnen. Dies war das Erbe seines älteren Bruders Giacomo, dessen Ruhm die Erinnerung an den Künstlerbruder verblassen ließ. Giovanni Casanova gelang als Künstler eine von Erfolgen begleitete Karriere, zunächst in Rom als hochgelobter Antikenzeichner, der auch in Herkulaneum tätig war, und dann ab 1764 in Dresden als bewunderter Kunsttheoretiker und Altertumskenner. Seine klassizistische Kunstlehre, vorgetragen in mehrjährigen Vorlesungen, wirkte weit über Dresden hinaus und zog viele junge Talente an. Kanz Biographie schildert, eingebettet in die Familiengeschicke und die Akademiegeschichte, erstmals die bewegte Karriere Giovanni Casanovas. Prägend war die Mitarbeit bei Mengs in Rom, seine Freundschaft und stärker noch seine spätere Feindschaft zu Winckelmann, wechselhaft war seine künstlerische Produktion und berüchtigt sein Hang zu Kontroversen mit Kollegen.
