Erste Ausgabe. WG 33. Bröger (1886-1944) war ein Arbeiter- und Heimatdichter, der der SPD angehörte. Er schrieb u.a. für die Zeitung "Der…Reichsbanner" des Reichsbanners Schwarz-Rot-Gold, das er in seiner Heimat Franken mitbegründet hatte. Seine Werke sind aber auch von einem gewissen Partriotismus und einem Bekenntnis zu Deutschland geprägt, den revolutionären Internationalismus des Teils der Arbeiterbewegung aus dem USPD und später die KPD entstanden lehnte er ab. Noch 1933 wurde er in Nürnberg zum SPD-Stadtrat gewählt, daraufhin aber sofort verhaftet und vier Monate im KZ Dachau inhaftiert. Das hinderte die Nazis aber nicht einige seiner Lieder und Gedichte zu vereinnahmen und wie z.B. die Kantate "Land mein Land" zu vertonen und dem Liedgut der Hitlerjugend beizufügen, auch wurden Gedichte von ihm, gegen seinen Willen, im Völkischen Beobachter veröffentlicht. Nach seinem Tod 1944 wurde er gar zum Anhänger des Regimes erklärt und erhielt ein sogenanntes Parteibegräbnis und die Hinterbliebenen hatten keine Möglichkeit dies zu verhindern. Klar ist aber dass Bröger keinerlei Sympathien für das NS-Regime hegte, der SPD treu blieb und sich bis zuletzt noch mit Gleichgesinnten getroffen hatte. Sprache: de.
