Hardback. Condizione: New. Reprint 2018 ed.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the history of thought regarding law and justice as they have developed in Western Civilization while contrasting the two main traditional schools of legal theory: natural law theory and historical law theory. The author presents an argument for a practical theory of law, one that is grounded in the real-world application of legal principles and that recognizes the dynamic, ever-changing nature of law. The book traces the development of these ideas from the Roman jurists through the present day. The author reveals how both of the traditional legal theories have fallen short in their attempts to explain the nature of law and shows how a practical theory of law can provide a more comprehensive and accurate account of the role of law in society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
