Sie fiel mit dem Beginn der intensiven Obstbautätigkeit zusammen, die häufig mit dem Ersatz alter durch neue Bäume, einer erhöhten Baumdichte und einer breiten Anwendung von Zwerg- oder Halbzwergunterlagen verbunden war.
