One of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day, each with a colorful paper pastedown to the front board. The artist here is Frank Godwin, who did also did the decorative endpapers, frontispiece & 13 internal illustrations, all full-page, 3 in full-color! With Stevenson's story originally published in a magazine for boys in 1886, this is the First Edition by Winston in this format from 1925 (First, Thus), in 340 pgs with a Glossary in rear. With green cloth-covered boards, this hardcover is in solidly Good condition: generally very clean, with random smudged/soiled spots (this one has lots of spots on front endpapers). Binding straight & strong, pages modestly tanned but unmarked. Moderate rubbing to extremities & portions of front pastedown, corners bumped down to underlying boards, small tear/frayed area along spine-front cover interface about 1" below top.
