In her illustrated lecture, part of the Rollins Lectures on the Typographic Tradition at Yale University, Susan Jackson Keig discusses her work as the designer for historic preservation, embracing signage, symbols, exhibits, and publications, while ensuring that the typography associated with these historical reconstructions does not "fall victim to the same faddish lettering which glares from the phoney-evocative barbecue pits, the half-timbered shopping centers and the salt-box bank branches which jam the approaches to every American city."
