Throughout the 115 year history of US Army control, the fort was lightly manned and those soldiers posted there endured hardships such as the cold and isolation of the small post. The fort and the village were in close connection ans shared similar hardships of frontier life. Here is a look at the military life of the soldiers posted there over the fort's life.
