After the US Civil War they established the Ba…ttle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan to promote good diet and physical fitness for everyone. It has since been converted to US military hospital use during and following several wars. Many famous people spent time there, including Amelia Earhart, C.W.Post (the -other- cereal company founder), President Harding, Johnny Weismuller, Henry Ford, Mary Todd Lincoln, Sojourner Truth, among others. Hydrotherapy was one of their keystone groupings of healthcare processes - surviving today in all the best Spas around the world. A vey rare/scarce book on the spectrum of care. The work received at least two printings in Iowa (1886, 1889) before being printed in Battle Creek, Michigan, the site of Kellogg's Battle Creek Sanitarium [Atwater 2090, 2091]. The Battle Creek Sanitarium, part health spa, part Mayo Clinic, would serve as a home base of sorts for the entire Kellogg family, later helping the Kellogg brothers launch their famous Kellogg's Corn Flakes, among 42 other health foods. This volume contains Kellogg's takes on the "plain truth" about everything, from exercise to bathing to masturbation, for the developing young man. The dissected plate of the human body which graced the pages of both this title and Kellogg's Ladies' Guide to Health and Disease is complete and in excellent condition. 1/2 Morocco with Brown Waxed Cloth.
