South Edmonton). these 304 pages are extracted from pieces written by a historical writers group and introdu…ce historical vignettes back to Edmontonians. Think Ursuline Sisters, Strathcona Coal Company, and John Walter. Also featured : 1915 flood, Whyte Avenue, brass bands, silk stockings, a `soddie', Huff Gravel Company, Joseph Hostyn, clinker bricks, Mount Carmel School, White Mud Creek, and William Shephard - brewer. B/W (archive) photographs assist text. Author has signed and dedicated the title page. Cond : Paper wrapper is green with black lettering. Front cover features a group waiting on the platform (terminus) od the Calgary & Edmonton Railway. Apart from a nasty cover crease the volume is bright, tight, clean, and crispy. No names, no marks. Excellent reference. Quote (p. 35) : " Incidentally, the Yellowhead Pass was often referred to as the Leather Pass because it was used by the Hudson's Bay Company for sending tanned hides to the trading posts in the central parts of what is northern British Columbia, then called New Caledonia.
