Burgundy cloth heavily sunned and blotchy on both boards and spine; corners rubbed with small frays; lower board edges with wear. Front and rear inner hinges starting/cracked with webbing visible; text block shaken but holding. Some cockling/waviness to leaves (old humidity exposure) with scattered foxing to endpapers; interior pages generally clean and plates bright. A sound reference/reading copy of this large-format Bible art book. ---. Large-format Oxford production issued in 1949 with multiple printings that year; later printings are usually labeled "Second Printing," "Fourth Printing October 1949," etc. This copy shows only the 1949 copyright and "Printed in the United States of America." Contemporary sources list the original issue price at $10.00 and describe 32 color plates. Plate count appears complete but not fully collated.
