paperback. Condizione: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.…

Aggiungi al carrelloNo Binding. Condizione: Good. A set of 9 b/w photos (8 from series CW/13773 and 1 from series CW/13896) showing BP's new Refinery and surrounding settlements in Little Aden. Each 21x16cm. Good or better, without editing marks to the images, a couple of corners creased and some marks to the images, with printed captions and ink stamps to the back. The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company built the Aden Refinery as an urgent response to nationalisation of the Iranian oil industry in 1951, in which it lost the refinery at Abadan. Construction took place during 1952-54, finishing ahead of schedule. In 1954 AIOC became known as British Petroleum. These photos are undated, but show the Refinery and its small but growing worker settlements soon after commencing operations. (1) 137734-1: A security check underway at the Refinery's gate, with a BP sign asking for watches and various inflammable materials to be handed over for safekeeping. // (2) 137734-4: "B" Class homes for Refinery workers with the rugged evening-lit hills beyond. // (3) 137734-10: Oil pipelines leading down to the quays with oil tankers British Duchess and Atlantic Lord moored on either side. // (4) 137734-12: A row of modern houses for oil workers in Little Aden, with pillarbox in the foreground and mountains beyond. // (5) 137734-14: General view of the Refinery from the road leading out of Aden town. // (6) 137734-15: the small and rapidly expanding township at Little Aden with mountains beyond. // (7) 137734-16: Part of the Refinery and workers homes with mountains beyond. // (8) 137734-17: Sunset over the town and mountains. // (9) 13896-5: The recently opened Shalimar Cinema and dancehall with mountains beyond, dating slightly later than the others. …
