This book provides an introduction to Fourier optics in the light of new developments in the area of computational imaging over the last couple of decades. The text is divided into three parts. The first part provides an in-depth discussion of relevant mathematical methods such as Fourier analysis, linear systems theory, random processes, and optimization-based image reconstruction techniques that are essential for understanding the working of modern computational imaging systems. The second part of the book explains the concepts in optics including diffraction phenomena, coherent and incoherent imaging systems, and some aspects of optical coherence theory. These traditional topical areas in Optics are covered from systems theory perspective. For example the diffraction theory is directly introduced in the angular spectrum formalism instead of the historical perspective taken by traditional Optics books. The third part of the book builds on the material in the first two parts and describes several system ideas combining optical hardware design and image reconstruction algorithms. In particular several advanced topics such as digital holography, iterative phase retrieval, super-resolution imaging, point spread function engineering for enhanced depth-of-focus, projection based imaging, single-pixel or ghost imaging, etc. are introduced. Each chapter contains a few exercises and thought problems that are meant to make the readers aware of interesting developments in the computational imaging literature. The book can serve as an introductory textbook for advanced undergraduate and Masters/PhD level students from Physics, EE or Applied Mathematics backgrounds who may be interested in exploring the exciting world of imaging research and development.

Neuware - Orbital Angular Momentum States of Light provides an in-depth introduction to modelling of long-range propagation of orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes as well as more general structured light beams through atmospheric turbulence. Starting with angular spectrum method for diffraction and description of structured light states, the book discusses the technical details related to wave propagation through atmospheric turbulence. The review of historical as well as more recent ideas in this topical area, along with computer simulation codes, makes this book a useful reference to researchers and optical engineers interested in developing and testing of free-space applications of OAM states of light.

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. The book is designed to serve as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in physics and electronics and communication engineering and mathematics. The book provides an introduction to Fourier optics in light of new developments in the area of computational imaging over the last couple of decades. There is an in-depth discussion of mathematical methods such as Fourier analysis, linear systems theory, random processes, and optimization-based image reconstruction techniques. These techniques are very much essential for a better understanding of the working of computational imaging systems. It discusses topics in Fourier optics, e.g., diffraction phenomena, coherent and incoherent imaging systems, and some aspects of coherence theory. These concepts are then used to describe several system ideas that combine optical hardware design and image reconstruction algorithms, such as digital holography, iterative phase retrieval, super-resolution imaging, point spread function engineering for enhanced depth-of-focus, projection-based imaging, single-pixel or ghost imaging, etc. The topics covered in this book can provide an elementary introduction to the exciting area of computational imaging for students who may wish to work with imaging systems in their future careers. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
