Aggiungi al carrelloVery good. Even overall toning. Light wear along original fold lines. Text on verso. Size 17.5 x 23.25 Inches. This is a 1937 city map or plan of London illustrating how well wishers and other attendees could best attend the Coronation of King George VI of Great Britain. The map depicts London from the now closed Uxbridge Road U…nderground Station (it was on the Metropolitan Line) to Tower Bridge and from Regents Park to the Borough of Lambeth and the Oval Underground station, which is on the Northern Line. Through the presentation of clear, concise information, directions concerning how to reach the Royal Route are presented. Each colored section represents a part of the Royal Route and correspond to the colors that would be used by buses, trams, and Green Line coaches to easily display for passengers their destination. The part of London each color encompasses is explained in explicit detail on verso, allowing potential attendees to decide where they would like to watch the procession and how best to arrive at their proposed destination. Only pre-arranged private traffic would be allowed into the Coronation Area (the white area on the map) and no superfluous deliveries, etc., would be allowed in. Bus, tram, and Green Line coach routes are labeled in different colors and different symbols are used for Underground stations, so riders can are informed which stations will be open, restricted, or closed for the day. A more detailed Underground map is printed on verso, along with detailed directions of how to get to the Royal Route. This map was published by Geographia and freely distributed in advance of the Coronation of King George VI on May 12, 1937. References: OCLC 53190166.

Aggiungi al carrelloCondizione: Very Good. The original gelatin silver photographs are uniformly mounted on 'Rose's Stereoscopic Views' cards (with the pair of images printed as one plate, approximately 94 × 148 mm; card size 100 × 178 mm), with printed captions within each image. All captions commence with the words 'Coronation of King Edward VII'…. #4180 has some surface damage to both the card and the photograph; #4424 has a tiny hole in one half of the photograph; six items have inoffensive minor stains or blemishes to the photograph (#4227, #4379, #4420, #4495, #4498, and #4569); and #4395 has a small stain to the card; all other photographs and cards are in excellent condition. After Queen Victoria's death in 1901, her eldest son Edward, the Prince of Wales, 'succeeded to the throne as Edward VII, with the Coronation taking place 9th August 1902. It was originally scheduled for 26th June but a few days before this date, the king came down with an acute attack of appendicitis requiring an operation. George Rose went to London for the Coronation travelling there . via Colombo (Ceylon) and Port Said (Egypt) where he took a number of photographs. Because of the late postponement, George found himself ahead of the new Coronation date. He put his time to good use as he not only witnessed and photographed the brilliant Military Review that took place at Aldershot on the 16th June, but he travelled to Ireland, Germany and Switzerland taking many stereo views on his travels' (Ron Blum: 'George Rose, Australia's Master Stereographer', 2022, fourth edition). There are 225 items listed in this section of his book, ranging from #4151 to #4622 (with #4962 to #4976 in a later section), but probably only half that number relate specifically to the Coronation. This group comprises 60 of them, ranging from #4151 to #4974; full details of the specific reference numbers are available on request. [60 items].
