In Ostdeutschland und Südafrika kam es 1989 zu einem abrupten Ãbergang zu einem demokratischen politischen System. Die neuen Regierungen standen vor der groÃen Aufgabe, eine neue Nation zu errichten und in einem Prozess gesamtgesellschaftlicher Integration ein Wir-Bewusstsein zu schaffen. Dies geschieht auf der Basis gemeinsamer Sprache und kultureller Traditionen und insbesondere der Herstellung einer gemeinsamen Geschichte. Ohne diese Elemente kann keine gemeinsame Identität das Konstrukt zusammenhalten, der Staat bleibt eine leere Hülle.
