Condizione: Good. 8vo. [4 pp.] Printed Wraps, Very Good. Illustrated cover. Scarce. The Perls Gallery in New York was founded in 1937 by Klaus Gunther Perls (1912-2008) and his brother, Franz R. Perls,(1910-1975), after having worked at their mother's Galerie Kate Perls in Paris. Following his marriage to Amelia Blumenthal of Philadelphia in 1940 , Klaus and Amelia B. Perls jointly ran the gallery. They specialized in modern French painting while Franz established the Frank Perls Gallery in Beverly Hills. He originally dealt in works by Maurice Utrillo, Maurice de Vlaminck and Raoul Dufy that his mother sent from Paris, until the Nazi occupation. When she was forced to flee France, he began dealing in now little known contemporary American artists, including Darrel Austin, and in Mexican and South American art such as Mario Carreno. After the war, Klaus again dealt in French art from the School of Paris.Artists in the Perls' stable included Rouault, Picasso, Léger, Derain, Dufy, Matisse, Modigliani, Pascin, Soutine and Vlaminck. The Perls Galleries closed in 1997.

This book examines how Christianity has theorized about the concept of redemption, as a central and defining doctrine integral to its core tenets. It begins by establishing the role of Jesus Christ as the redeemer, and explores the dual nature of Christ as both God and human, central to the doctrine of redemption. In the Christian doctrine, redemption is an act of divine grace, not a human one. The author surveys the range of ideas associated with redemption across the history of theology, including the nature of the incarnation, the reality of Christ's human and divine nature, the concept of the Trinity, and the purpose of Christ's suffering and death. The book pays special attention to the arguments and ideas of major Christian thinkers such as Irenaeus, Tertullian, Origen, Athanasius, and Augustine to elucidate the various facets of this doctrine, which remains key to understanding Christian theology. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
