Besondere Aufmerksamkeit bezüglich der Berücksichtigung von Selektivität in der Gestaltung ist gerade bei elektronischen Zeitungen notwendig, da sie durch eine Hypertext-Struktur gekennzeichnet sind. Diese Struktur, im Gegensatz zur linearen Struktur der herkömmlichen Zeitung oder des Buches, erlaubt dem Leser seine eigene Textkonstruktion. Deshalb verlangt die Hypertext-Struktur ein hohes Maß an Ordnung und Übersicht, um dem Leser die Auswahl von und die Suche nach bestimmten Artikeln zu erleichtern und ihm seine Leseposition zu verdeutlichen. Denn bei der hohen Anzahl von Verknüpfungen kann der Leser leicht seine Orientierung verlieren. A. Hoffmann und eröffnet dem Leser verschiedene Möglichkeiten der Rezeption und der Textdeutung. Sehr augenfällig ist das Prinzip der Ambivalenz als textstrukturierendes Verfahren auch in Hoffmanns Märchen 'Der goldene Topf' aus dem Sammelband 'Fantasiestücke in Callot's Manier'. Das Märchen konstituiert zwei Welten, die nicht getrennt nebeneinander existieren, sondern ineinander übergehen. Damit einher geht die mehrfache Interpretationsmöglichkeit sowohl für die Figuren der erzählten Welt in Bezug auf ihre Erlebnisse innerhalb dieser Welt, als auch für den Leser, für den mehrere Deutungsmöglichkeiten bestehen.Zusätzlich zur Ambivalenz des Märcheninhaltes schafft der Erzählvorgang selbst Mehrdeutigkeit. Das geschieht einerseits durch den Wechsel der verschiedenen Erzählsituationen und andererseits durch die Reflexivität des Erzählens. Die folgende Analyse beschreibt die Rolle des Erzählers in Hoffmanns Märchen 'Der goldene Topf' im Hinblick auf die Ambivalenz und die Reflexivität des Textes.
