One page on Bush's personal stationery, headed in his hand "Iowa caucus day" and dated January 24, 2000, with the word "Nervous" added in his hand before his printed name at the head. The note reads in full, "Dear Ed, Just back from the Persian Gulf to find your column on the death penalty - now read with interest. You're a thoughtful guy. Are you 'thoughtful' enough to vote for my 'boy?' Warmest best wishes, Ed - George Bush." Written as his son George W.
